The six-decade journey of the György Harag Company has been accompanied by a long line of professional, social and individual honours. The company and its artists have brought recognition to Hungarian theatre in Satu Mare through their achievements at national theatre competitions.
2024/2025 Theatre Season
• The György Harag Company of the Northern Theatre Satu Mare received the András Csíky Artistic Award. Following the decision of the Company’s Artistic Council, the accompanying cash prize was awarded to Evelyn Budizsa and Zsolt Orbán.
2023/2024 Theatre Season
• At the 36th Festival of Hungarian Theatres in Kisvárda, János Szilárd Szabó, an actor of our company, received the Teplánszky Award, presented to promising young talents, for his performance in The Cripple of Innishmaan.
• At the end-of-season gala, the company’s most prestigious award, the György Harag Award, was presented to Nikolett Kovács, while the Alajos Ács Award was awarded to Evelyn Budizsa.
• The 2023 awards of Rinocerul, a Romanian-language professional theatre journal, were presented at an awards ceremony held at the National Theatre in Bucharest. The György Harag Company’s production of My Fair Lady, directed by Andrei Serban, was named Best Musical of the Year.
2021/2022 Theatre Season
• Péter Stier, Administrative Director of the Northern Theatre Satu Mare and former General Coordinator of the Partium Hungarian Days, was awarded the Miklós Bánffy Count Award for his persistent work in creating cultural value in the service of the Hungarian community.
2020/2021 Theatre Season
• The Transylvanian Hungarian Cultural Association awarded Csongor Zsolt Nagy, artist of our company, the György Kovács Award in recognition of his outstanding work as an actor.
2019/2020 Theatre Season
• The Company participated in the 32nd Festival of Hungarian Theatres in Kisvárda with its production Rasputin. Gábor Rappert-Vencz, who played the title role, received the Best Actor in a Leading Role Award, shared with Aba Sebestyén, who played the lead in An Enemy of the People, a production of the Tompa Miklós Company of the National Theatre of Târgu Mureș. The György Harag Company received the Award of the Ministry of Human Capacities for Outstanding Ensemble Work, shared with the Kosztolányi Dezső Theatre of Subotica for its production Gustav Is to Blame for Everything.
• On 15 March, Hungary’s national holiday, Miklós Tóth-Páll, actor and director, founder and president of the Ady Endre Society and life member of the György Harag Company, was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Order of Merit of Hungary, Civil Division. According to the official citation, he received the honour for his work in organising and promoting culture in the service of Hungarian culture both in Hungary and beyond its borders.
• For the 18th time, the Democratic Alliance of Hungarians in Romania recognised individuals who have devoted themselves to serving the Hungarian community of Transylvania in various fields of life. On this occasion, the Silver Fir Award was presented to 24 individuals, including Péter Stier, Administrative Director of the Northern Theatre of Satu Mare, who served for ten years as the General Coordinator of the region’s major cultural event, the Partium Hungarian Days.
• At the FUX Puppet Theatre Festival in Oradea, the Brighella Puppet Theatre’s production Wind Savior received the Pedagogues’ Award, as well as one of the Elek Benedek Awards. The latter was presented to the Brighella ensemble by actor Botond Benedek, a descendant of Elek Benedek and a member of the jury, in recognition of the ensemble’s outstanding collective work.
2018/2019 Theatre Season
• At the end-of-season gala, Blanka Moldován received the Alajos Ács Award, one of the company’s major awards. The György Harag Award was presented to Gábor Rappert-Vencz, based on the votes of the Company’s members.
• At the Festin pe Bulevard International Theatre Festival in Bucharest, the company’s production of The Comedy of Errors, directed by László Bocsárdi, received the Audience Jury Award.
• In Cluj-Napoca, at the Puck International Festival of Puppet and Marionette Theatres, the Brighella Puppet Theatre of the György Harag Company participated with its production The Fiddler’s Son and the Devils. The Brighella Puppet Theatre received the festival’s award for the best puppets featured in the productions. The visual design of the production was created and executed by Géza Nagy-Kovács, an artist of the Bóbita Puppet Theatre in Pécs.
• Csongor Zsolt Nagy, actor of the György Harag Company, received the Attila Kaszás Award at the national Hungarian theatre season-opening gala held at the Jászai Mari Theatre in Tatabánya. In accordance with the intentions of the award’s founders, the award recognises not only artistic achievement but also community-building activities within theatre companies.
2017/2018 Theatre Season
• At the end-of-season gala, Nikolett Kovács received the Alajos Ács Award, one of the Company’s major professional awards, based on the votes of the Company’s Artistic Council. The György Harag Award was presented to Gyula Gaál that year, based on the votes of the Company’s members.
• On 15 March 2018, Emese Bandura, puppet actress and head of the Brighella Puppet Theatre, received the Silver Tulip Award of the Satu Mare branch of the RMDSZ in the Youth and Sports category.
• The Brighella Puppet Theatre of the György Harag Company also participated in the 16th Puck International Festival of Puppet and Marionette Theatres in Cluj-Napoca. The festival’s Grand Prix, awarded for the best production, went to the Brighella Puppet Theatre’s production A Story of the Bowl and the Spoon. Of the seven awards presented at the festival, the Satu Mare company received three additional awards. Anikó Nagy received the award for Best Female Performance, jointly with another recipient. The Best Music Award went to composer Ferenc Czapp, while the award for Best Dramaturgy was also presented in connection with the Satu Mare production, to Éva Viktória Nagy and Jankó Schneider.
• At the FUX Festival in Oradea, the Brighella Puppet Theatre of the György Harag Company presented A Story of the Bowl and the Spoon, directed by Jankó Schneider, and received the festival’s two most prestigious distinctions: the Best Production Award and the Pedagogues’ Jury Award.
2016/2017 Theatre Season
• At the end-of-season gala, Tibor Bodea received the Alajos Ács Award, while Gábor Rappert-Vencz was honoured with the György Harag Award.
• As part of the Bucharest Fringe – Independent Theatre Marathon, Ágnes Keresztes, a newly employed actress of our Company, received the Debut Award for her performance in MaRó, a production of the Yorick Studio in Târgu Mureș.
2015/2016 Theatre Season
• At the end-of-season gala, Gábor Rappert-Vencz received the Alajos Ács Award, one of the Company’s major professional awards. The György Harag Award, the grand prize awarded to the Actor of the Season, was presented to Blanka Moldován, based on the votes of the Company and the Artistic Council.
• At the 28th Festival of Hungarian Theatres in Kisvárda, the jury awarded Stella Rappert-Vencz the Best Supporting Actress Award for her outstanding performance as Masha in A. P. Chekhov’s The Seagull.
• Éva Kovács, an honorary member of the György Harag Company of Satu Mare, received the Ex Libris Award, established as part of the Magyar Művészetért Award System.
• The György Harag Company of the Northern Theatre Satu Mare presented its production The Lost Letter in Budapest. The production was invited to the Hungarian capital as part of the National Theatre’s programme presenting productions from beyond Hungary’s borders. It was also included in the programme of the first Transylvanian Artists’ Week, organised by the Transilvanum Foundation. At the private reception following the performance, representatives of the Transilvanum Foundation honoured the Company with the Excellence in Transylvanian Community Life Award.
2014/2015 Theatre Season
• At the end-of-season gala, Nikolett Kovács received the Alajos Ács Award, while Anna Sándor was presented with the György Harag Award, based on the votes of the Company and the Artistic Council.
• At the Versünnep Festival in Budapest, young Satu Mare actor Tamás Marosszéki received two important awards: the festival’s Audience Award and the Versünnep Foundation Award. Marosszéki performed Sándor Széllyes’s poem Székely Christmas in the professional performers’ category, which featured seventeen contestants.
• Orbán Nagy, an artist of the György Harag Company, received the Satu Mare County Council Award of Excellence in the Culture and Arts category at the Satu Mare Awards Gala. Actress Nikolett Kovács and choreographer Gabriela Tănase received Certificates of Merit.
• Miklós Tóth-Páll, actor and honorary member of the György Harag Company of the Northern Theatre of Satu Mare, was awarded the Silver Fir Award for his work in cultural organisation and for his efforts to preserve and promote Hungarian culture.
2012/2013 Theatre Season
• At the end-of-year Satu Mare Awards Gala, Orbán Nagy received certificates from the Satu Mare City Council and the Satu Mare County Council.
• At the end-of-year Awards Gala, Stella Rappert-Vencz received the Alajos Ács Award from the Satu Mare City Council and the Satu Mare County Council.
• Among the award recipients at the 25th Jubilee Festival of Hungarian Theatres in Kisvárda, Géza Egger received the Teplánszky Award on the evening of 29 June 2013. The award was established by the Kisvárda Castle Theatre for the most promising young actor.
2011/2012 Theatre Season
• Attila Keresztes received the Romanian Public Radio Award at the Nationalities’ Theatre Colloquium in Gheorgheni for his production of Carlo Goldoni’s The Chioggia Scuffles.
• Bianca Imelda Jeremias received the Special Jury Award at the Nationalities’ Theatre Colloquium in Gheorgheni for the set and costume designs of the production of Carlo Goldoni’s The Chioggia Scuffles.
• In 2011, István Bessenyei received the Cultural Award of the Satu Mare City Council and the Satu Mare County Council at the Awards Gala.
• Attila Balogh was nominated for the 2012 Debut Award of the Romanian Theatre Association (UNITER) for his staging of The Women of Trachis at the Tamási Áron Theatre in Sfântu Gheorghe.
• In 2012, Attila Keresztes was nominated for the Dömötör Award, one of the most prestigious theatre awards in Szeged, for the third time, in the Best Director category, for his staging of Hedda Gabler in Szeged.
• At the 24th Festival of Hungarian Theatres in Kisvárda, Ernő Galló received a Special Jury Award, offered by the Ministry of Human Resources, for his performance in The Unhappy Ones, based on the decision of the professional jury.

2010/2011 Theatre Season
• Attila Keresztes was honoured with the 2010 Złota Maska (Golden Mask) Award. The Artistic Director of the György Harag Company of the Northern Theatre of Satu Mare received this prestigious Polish award for Best Director of the Year for his production of Yvonne, Princess of Burgundy, staged at the Silesian Wyspiański Theatre in Katowice.
• József Czintos received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Ministry of National Resources in recognition of his outstanding artistic work spanning several decades. The award was presented at the closing ceremony of the 23rd Festival of Hungarian Theatres in Kisvárda.
• Attila Keresztes received the Dömötör Award in Szeged in 2010 for directing Liliom.
• Miklós Tóth-Páll received the Miklós Bánffy Award from the Transylvanian Hungarian Cultural Association (EMKE) in 2011.
2009/2010 Theatre Season
• During the 2009–2010 theatre season, József Bíró was nominated by the Romanian Theatre Association (UNITER) for the Best Supporting Actor Award for his portrayal of Chebutykin in Three Sisters, directed by Attila Keresztes.
• Tekla Laczkó received a Special Jury Award at the verse theatre festival held in Pécs for her one-woman performance Psyché.

The visual design of the production was created and executed by Géza Nagy-Kovács, an artist of the Bóbita Puppet Theatre in Pécs.
• Csongor Zsolt Nagy, actor of the György Harag Company, received the Attila Kaszás Award at the national Hungarian theatre season-opening gala held at the Jászai Mari Theatre in Tatabánya. In accordance with the intentions of the award’s founders, the award recognises not only artistic achievement but also community-building activities within theatre companies.
2017/2018 Theatre Season
• At the end-of-season gala, Nikolett Kovács received the Alajos Ács Award, one of the Company’s major professional awards, based on the votes of the Company’s Artistic Council. The György Harag Award was presented to Gyula Gaál that year, based on the votes of the Company’s members.
• On 15 March 2018, Emese Bandura, puppet actress and head of the Brighella Puppet Theatre, received the Silver Tulip Award of the Satu Mare branch of the RMDSZ in the Youth and Sports category.
• The Brighella Puppet Theatre of the György Harag Company also participated in the 16th Puck International Festival of Puppet and Marionette Theatres in Cluj-Napoca. The festival’s Grand Prix, awarded for the best production, went to the Brighella Puppet Theatre’s production A Story of the Bowl and the Spoon. Of the seven awards presented at the festival, the Satu Mare company received three additional awards. Anikó Nagy received the award for Best Female Performance, jointly with another recipient. The Best Music Award went to composer Ferenc Czapp, while the award for Best Dramaturgy was also presented in connection with the Satu Mare production, to Éva Viktória Nagy and Jankó Schneider.
• At the FUX Festival in Oradea, the Brighella Puppet Theatre of the György Harag Company presented A Story of the Bowl and the Spoon, directed by Jankó Schneider, and received the festival’s two most prestigious distinctions: the Best Production Award and the Pedagogues’ Jury Award.
2016/2017 Theatre Season
• At the end-of-season gala, Tibor Bodea received the Alajos Ács Award, while Gábor Rappert-Vencz was honoured with the György Harag Award.
• As part of the Bucharest Fringe – Independent Theatre Marathon, Ágnes Keresztes, a newly employed actress of our Company, received the Debut Award for her performance in MaRó, a production of the Yorick Studio in Târgu Mureș.
2015/2016 Theatre Season
• At the end-of-season gala, Gábor Rappert-Vencz received the Alajos Ács Award, one of the Company’s major professional awards. The György Harag Award, the grand prize awarded to the Actor of the Season, was presented to Blanka Moldován, based on the votes of the Company and the Artistic Council.
• At the 28th Festival of Hungarian Theatres in Kisvárda, the jury awarded Stella Rappert-Vencz the Best Supporting Actress Award for her outstanding performance as Masha in A. P. Chekhov’s The Seagull.
• Éva Kovács, an honorary member of the György Harag Company of Satu Mare, received the Ex Libris Award, established as part of the Magyar Művészetért Award System.
• The György Harag Company of the Northern Theatre Satu Mare presented its production The Lost Letter in Budapest. The production was invited to the Hungarian capital as part of the National Theatre’s programme presenting productions from beyond Hungary’s borders. It was also included in the programme of the first Transylvanian Artists’ Week, organised by the Transilvanum Foundation. At the private reception following the performance, representatives of the Transilvanum Foundation honoured the Company with the Excellence in Transylvanian Community Life Award.
2014/2015 Theatre Season
• At the end-of-season gala, Nikolett Kovács received the Alajos Ács Award, while Anna Sándor was presented with the György Harag Award, based on the votes of the Company and the Artistic Council.
• At the Versünnep Festival in Budapest, young Satu Mare actor Tamás Marosszéki received two important awards: the festival’s Audience Award and the Versünnep Foundation Award. Marosszéki performed Sándor Széllyes’s poem Székely Christmas in the professional performers’ category, which featured seventeen contestants.
• Orbán Nagy, an artist of the György Harag Company, received the Satu Mare County Council Award of Excellence in the Culture and Arts category at the Satu Mare Awards Gala. Actress Nikolett Kovács and choreographer Gabriela Tănase received Certificates of Merit.
• Miklós Tóth-Páll, actor and honorary member of the György Harag Company of the Northern Theatre of Satu Mare, was awarded the Silver Fir Award for his work in cultural organisation and for his efforts to preserve and promote Hungarian culture.
2012/2013 Theatre Season
• At the end-of-year Satu Mare Awards Gala, Orbán Nagy received certificates from the Satu Mare City Council and the Satu Mare County Council.
• At the end-of-year Awards Gala, Stella Rappert-Vencz received the Alajos Ács Award from the Satu Mare City Council and the Satu Mare County Council.
• Among the award recipients at the 25th Jubilee Festival of Hungarian Theatres in Kisvárda, Géza Egger received the Teplánszky Award on the evening of 29 June 2013. The award was established by the Kisvárda Castle Theatre for the most promising young actor.
2011/2012 Theatre Season
• Attila Keresztes received the Romanian Public Radio Award at the Nationalities’ Theatre Colloquium in Gheorgheni for his production of Carlo Goldoni’s The Chioggia Scuffles.
• Bianca Imelda Jeremias received the Special Jury Award at the Nationalities’ Theatre Colloquium in Gheorgheni for the set and costume designs of the production of Carlo Goldoni’s The Chioggia Scuffles.
• In 2011, István Bessenyei received the Cultural Award of the Satu Mare City Council and the Satu Mare County Council at the Awards Gala.
• Attila Balogh was nominated for the 2012 Debut Award of the Romanian Theatre Association (UNITER) for his staging of The Women of Trachis at the Tamási Áron Theatre in Sfântu Gheorghe.
• In 2012, Attila Keresztes was nominated for the Dömötör Award, one of the most prestigious theatre awards in Szeged, for the third time, in the Best Director category, for his staging of Hedda Gabler in Szeged.
• At the 24th Festival of Hungarian Theatres in Kisvárda, Ernő Galló received a Special Jury Award, offered by the Ministry of Human Resources, for his performance in The Unhappy Ones, based on the decision of the professional jury.

2010/2011 Theatre Season
• Attila Keresztes was honoured with the 2010 Złota Maska (Golden Mask) Award. The Artistic Director of the György Harag Company of the Northern Theatre of Satu Mare received this prestigious Polish award for Best Director of the Year for his production of Yvonne, Princess of Burgundy, staged at the Silesian Wyspiański Theatre in Katowice.
• József Czintos received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Ministry of National Resources in recognition of his outstanding artistic work spanning several decades. The award was presented at the closing ceremony of the 23rd Festival of Hungarian Theatres in Kisvárda.
• Attila Keresztes received the Dömötör Award in Szeged in 2010 for directing Liliom.
• Miklós Tóth-Páll received the Miklós Bánffy Award from the Transylvanian Hungarian Cultural Association (EMKE) in 2011.
2009/2010 Theatre Season
• During the 2009–2010 theatre season, József Bíró was nominated by the Romanian Theatre Association (UNITER) for the Best Supporting Actor Award for his portrayal of Chebutykin in Three Sisters, directed by Attila Keresztes.
